The more I read on this the angrier I get. While I agree it is our responsibility to get any U.S. citizen who is being held captive out of the country and back safely, there are methods to do it that meet the laws.
In this case, getting Bergdahl out was an objective we needed to meet. However, he should never be branded a hero as, for whatever reason, he left his post on his own free will and was captured. I don't think he was anything but a bargaining chip to the Taliban and probably provided nothing to them that was worthwhile from an information standpoint. He now needs to be held accountable for deserting his post and for the lives of those lost trying to find him.
As for the parishioner exchange, this is the part that irks me to no end. The ones that were released were not some lowly grunt in the terrorists regime, they were high-ranking officers. These thugs are now being hosted in luxury and allowed to run free in Qatar and they can do as they wish, including planning terrorist plots against us at will. If any type of terrorist attack occurs due to their release and planning, then I think the President should be charged as an accomplice.
