Buy the cheap magazine and see what it does. I bet it works just fine in that particular handgun.
I bought 4 cheap plastic mags for my mark 2 probably 25 years ago. After thousands of rounds they are finally cracking. Got my money worth. I bought 4 off brand Glock magazines for my ruger carbine and they are running just fine.
