Re: Why I Press Check Always... But Once

Be careful about constantly press checking and keep an eye for bullet setback. Hadn't thought about it. Anytime it has come out of the holster and goes back in is when I do it. When the entire rig comes off I don't. I noticed that and now I rotate the chambered round and shoot my carry magazine fro...

Why I Press Check Always... But Once

I think some of y'all know I switched back to 1911 as my EDC (I guess the testosterone treatments are working). I also posted once upon a time asking whether I was weird for press checking every time I strapped up regardless of knowing that I was the ONLY one to handle, nothing was done to change th...

Re: The 1911, My First Love

Hopp Custom Leather makes some really really nice stuff too. I have a custom holster for an XDM45 that I bought from him 11 or 12 years ago. <SNIP> Thank you. Started the process for an IWB. I really like what I saw. For the OWB, the 1791 holster and mag carrier ride very nicely. Maybe a touch high...

Re: The 1911, My First Love

Excellent advice all. Thank you so much. I decided, since I don't have to wear black leather anymore, to get an entire rig from 1791. My gun belt is out of holes, I've lost some weight, and hopefully this will be adequate to get me to a point where I can invest a tad more. Start up with a new gun is...

If you don't mind my asking, how're you built and how comfortable are your holsters?

What type of holster do you use?

Re: The 1911, My First Love

I guess I could try on Colt Commander holsters and then commit. TAM, what kind of 1911 do you run.

To this day, this is my favorite OWB holster for the 1911: CONCEALABLE BELT HOLSTER FOR AUTOS & REVOLVERS . https://www.galcogunleather.com/uimages/2021_image_project/owb/Leather_holster_OWB_Concealable_1_black_b.jpg This is the feature that makes it so comfortable: https://www.galcogunleather....

I know, right? I couldn't believe it fell in my lap for an actually fair price. Plus no sales tax. The only drawback is it's one the government knows I have.

The 1911, My First Love

I've carried an ugly but reliable Glock as my EDC for nigh on 30 years. I've had various platforms on or about my person since the late 70s. But the 1911, the pistol I qualified with in the Army and the first I carried with any regularity has always been my first love. I've been wanting to return to...

Re: IP Ban

I believe other people are using a VPN without problems. It could be that you're VPN is blocking the site. I was tooling along and got a ban. I wrote the admins and it was reversed. No such notation there. This time I fiddled with it by using another browser and even incognito mode to read and the ...
