I must admit, I have gone from carrying extra mags to a "just enough to back me out the door" mentality. This is a good point.
Yesterday at the range, I was thinking about this scenario. I always carry at least a short barrel five shooter and would be up a creek without a second gun.
I'm going to have to go with photoman here. Since this thread, I've gone back to carrying a spare. There are just too many scenarios where the original load would be marginal at best.
