Amen to that, brother. That's no different than an acquaintance of mine who, several years ago, had an armed home invasion just a few houses down in his neighborhood. I talked to him about home defense planning, perimeter zones and dissuasion/hardening, practical firearms for the purpose and where to get training. His final decision was to buy an aluminum baseball bat and leave it in the coat closet in the foyer. The Annoyed Man wrote: ↑Sun Oct 23, 2022 11:03 am What I don’t understand is why the surviving victim, after seeing how effective her rescuer's gun was in breaking up the attack, has decided to carry a stick going forward on her walks, instead of carrying a gun. She’s in denial if she thinks carrying a stick would have deterred what happened to her.
Maybe I should add this to my signature line: "Always exploit every technological and tactical advantage." Even our Middle Paleolithic ancestors 100,000 years ago made spears with flaked-edge stone blades; even they had better options than than just carrying a stick.
