Re: Padre Island and Galveston
Both are totally okay for a concealed carrier with an LTC. The National Seashore as well, except for the occupied buildings, like any National Park. I’ve always had a CHL or LTC since 1996, so don’t know the rules about carrying without one, or open carry. Watch for the 30.06 signs as usual. I’ve se...

Re: at the range today
Similar situation here. Private range, code changed annually for the automatic gate, mostly nobody but me there on weekdays, but I still keep my carry loaded and ready. If I feel like shooting a few rounds from it, I always clean and reload one of the other firearms I brought along. The range is in ...

Re: TX: Mean streets of Killeen
It was illegal at the time for her to even have it in her car. And despite her well documented appeals to the Texas legislature, it still took almost 5 years for the Texas CHL program to come into being in 1996. Had to get rid of Ann Richards as governor, and George Bush Jr. to become governor.

Re: LCP Recall
Oh well, since it’s still here… My 1st Gen LCP is still working fine after several (never counted) hundred rounds. Never a malfunction of any type. The pins did tend to walk out after a while, easy enoug to put them flush again. Ruger did send me new ones, but never bothered to put them in. I never ...

Re: A REPORT ON THE FIGHTING CULTURE OF THE UNITED STATES NAVY SURFACE FLEET
USN 1969-1973 I served on the USS Biddle DLG-34, saw combat off the coast of North Vietnam in 1972, during the bombing of Hanoi and the mining of Haiphong harbor. Back in those days it was seamanship and compass, no cell phones, no laptops, no tablets, no email, no FaceTime, no Google, no cute apps ...

Re: Window Air Conditioner, Reliable Brands?
My only contribution is to caution against GE or Whirlpool. I’m on my 5th one of those right now. Almost like clockwork they fail about every 3 years, mostly when summer is upon us. I need one fast in this south Texas summer, Lowe’s is right up the street and that’s what they carry, at least up to n...

Re: Why Use Eye Protection
Not nearly as extreme as the OP example, but several years back I had an ejected .45 casing fly back, hit me in the right eye, and knock out my contact lens. Not only hurt like heck, cost me an eye exam and replacement contact lens, but gave me a flinch shooting anything that took a while to get pas...

Re: If you had the carry choice
If I could have carried openly before I retired, I would have carried a cocked and locked 1911, either a Ruger SR1911 or Kimber Classic Custom most of the time. Or my Browning HP .40. I’d probably mix in one of my other full sized pistols every now and then, but I always appreciate that nice, crisp,...

Re: IN: 'Multiple victims' in shooting at FedEx facility in Indianapolis
Article I saw last night indicated that 80% of the employees at that facility are members of the Sikh community. The Media will never say it, but pretty clear to me that this is a Caucasian male who saw himself as an oppressed minority in his workplace, oppressed by “foreigners” and seeing his chanc...

Re: Any other wheel gun carriers around?
I used to carry my 3” and 2+” Ruger SP101s quite a bit but since Kimber released their 6 shot K6Ss, those are my primary carry revolvers. And when I’m carrying one of those I always have a Ruger LCR 38+P in my left pocket. I carry two 8 round speed strips with 6 rounds in them for the K6Ss. No reloa...

I hope they got that corrected on the LC9S’s replacement, the EC9S. I carry one a lot. An internet search did not show any EC9S sear spring problems.

Having to login twice?
I’ll login, see a post I want to reply to, or initiate, and be told I have to login again before proceeding.
Any insight?
Thanks.

Re: Carry pistol failure
The 940s were made when S&W was first starting to use MIM parts. Newer products do not seem to have as many issues, as the '90s guns did, but I would get a milled hand from Numrich. YMMV, and based on your capabilities. ;-) You know, that was my first thought after the pistol was on it’s way ba...
