Re: Political Bumper Stickers could make you a target

HOLY COW! I can't believe this thread is still alive.

I have on my tailgate:

Hope is not a strategy.
Change is not a destination.

I can't tell you how many people who've made positive comments. I've yet to hear one negative one. On the other hand, my tires keep going flat.

Nah. My neighbors work for a living and pretty much keep their view to themselves. If they're standing out in the street, they're probably waving and offering you a beer. Oh, by the way, this is not an all white neighborhood, and I have yet to see a burning cross on any front lawn.

The Republican's are taken over by fear? I guess it was only a matter of time for it to migrate from the Democrats. That whole "the sky is falling, global warming" issue comes to mind. The same goes for ignorance, bigotry and smear. And speaking of bigotry, what exactly do we call it when one generalizes negatively about one particular group of people; say... Republicans?

By the way, I'm not a Republican, but I tend to vote that way. I detest both parties, but to demonize one without the other is the pot/kettle scenario. I hold the Republican voter in high regard, but the party is worth slightly less than a bucket of pig slop. The Democrat party is worth about half that.

They cut the sticker and removed the left side, simply leaving "Obama" while he was in the mall. It's unfortunate that simply advertising your political views makes you a target and your property subject to vandalism.
Well, I spit a big green lugi on every Obama car I see at the mall.
What a way to revive an old thread...

Re: Political Bumper Stickers could make you a target

Meanwhile, back at the ranch...

I have a McCain/Palin sticker on one side of my tailgate and a NObama on the other. Across the center, my tailgate says:

McCain / Palin '08

Because...

Hope is not a strategy

Change is not a destination

Yesterday, while sitting at a red light in the Greenspoint area, a young woman stood up and threw her water bottle at my pickup. The light turned green and I left with the rest of the traffic, assuming that a water bottle wouldn't really do any damage (and it didn't).

What irritates me is that so many Obama supporters practice hypocrisy in this area, using aggressive and intimidating measures against McCain supporters. Methinks the inverse would no be tolerated.

Political Bumper Stickers could make you a target

Yesterday, my wife drove to a lady's home to redo her fingerprints. Now, my wife is a little redhead who drives a sporty little red Mustang convertible with a "McCain/Palin" and a "NOBama" sticker on the rear. Once she entered the neighborhood, she noticed an apparent ethnic dichotomy. While this is normally not an issue, the particular group of male and female 20-somethings lining the street, as my wife looked for the address, was a bit intimidating.

They closed in toward her car as she drove through at about 20 mph, yelling racial epithets, stating that "this is a DEMOCRAT neighborhood," etc. When she arrived at the lady's house, she told her what had happened and that she felt a bit threatened. The lady's response was, "I just keep to myself."

"This is a fine time to tell me," my wife thought.

After doing the prints, my wife had to, once again, face the gauntlet. Again, the crowd was yelling comments and moving in on her car, blocking the roadway. Understandably frightened, my wife positioned her M&P 9mm compact in her lap, windows up, doors locked and focused ahead, driving a constant 20 mph with no signs of slowing down. The group continued to yell and wave (not in the good way), but, apparently realizing that she had no intentions of slowing down, parted and let her car through.

This little scare was enough to prompt her announce that she'll NEVER AGAIN go to a client's home.

It's sad that there are people out there who will attempt to intimidate, threaten, or even attack those with differing political viewpoints. My wife is not a racist by any means, but actions of groups such as this serves only to strengthen racial stereotypes.
