Re: Circus at Reliant
Well, I will offer my own reply. Went to the circus at Reliant Stadium last night and had no more problem carrying than at a restaurant. No signs, no metal detectors, none, zip, nada.

Circus at Reliant
Going to the circus tonight at Reliant. Did anyone ever post as to whether or not they have 30.06 posted? Don't figure it's a sporting event.

Re: HOW to carry?
I carry a Colt New Agent 1911, and ran into the same issue. When I can wear jeans or casual pants, I use the crossbreed tuckable - sometimes with shirt tucked, sometimes not. However for all the time I spend in dress pants and tucked shirt w/ or w/out jacket, for over a year I have been using a Kang...

Re: One less thug
Like Skip, I read thru all the posts, and I agree that it is a good thing that the good guy is the one walking. For 20 years I have taught martial arts self defense. At the top of the list comes awareness and being prepared. Though I never considered it cowering, next on my list was to avoid high ri...

Re: Jersey Village, Carjacking
Yikes!
I used to live in the apartments directly across Jones Rd. from the Jersey Village Golf Course. I wonder if this was the same place. It's been a few years, but there were only two complexes across from Jersey village when I was there in 2002.
Always carry!!!!

Re: What do you do when asked?
Same here. It just depends. During a conversation brought up by a co-worker about wanting a CHL, I encouraged it, and even admited that I have one. When asked if I was carrying, I just lift my arms and say somthing like, "I have a 45. Where am I going to hide it in dress clothes?" Both tim...

Re: Anyone lose a gun in the Houston area lately?
Odd. I know anytime I put a book, drink, etc., on the roof of my car when my hands are full, I almost always forget and drive off. Haven't ever figured out quite why I can't seem to remember. Now I just make it a point to not do it. I sure can't imagine doing it w/ a gun. Sure makes you wonder what ...

I have to agree. Leave it in the car. Too risky.

Re: Why fire double action?
Great input. I'm learning alot, but still have questions. I put everything into perspective of "Me", and trying to envision my abilities with my own pistols/revolvers. I certainly am not as skilled or accurate with DA as with SA. Infact, I would not consider myself highly skilled at all, t...

Re: Justifiable Homicides Up
I guess there are two takes here: Self defense shootings are at the highest levels since 1997. Theirs: Shoot first mentality - Guns bad. Mine: Self Defense shootings must now be lower than in 1996. How many people, at least in Texas, carried in 1996? And look what happened as more applied for a CHL ...

Re: I've joined the 1911 Club
Welcome to the club. When looking for my first pistols, I never even considered 1911's. No real reason, just didn't. Then again, maybe I just had sticker shock. But as I said in another post ScubaSigGuy talked me into checking them out and that's all it took. It may not hold as many rounds as the do...

Re: Why fire double action?
I am not aware of any revolvers automatically re-cocking either. I was actually referring to the way srothstein automatically (reflexively) recocked the hammer, and then lowered it again. OK Excaliber, so the double action firing is more or less "old school" training given the weapons of t...

Re: Why fire double action?
Maybe I should rephrase my question. I agree totally about shooting the way you a accustomed and that one may not have time to cock the hammer. My question pertains to the way srothstein cocked the hammer reflexively, but then remembering the training, lowered the hammer to fire double action. He di...

Why fire double action?
I read something in an earlier thread that I am curious about. srothstein wrote: "My body reacted to decades of training and I cocked the hammer (S&W Model 65 revolver), then thought of the academy and them saying to always fire double action. I lowered the hammer and then squeezed off the ...
