Re: Student Visa?
I was thinking that he would need to take a course, but wanted to be sure. Being an old timer, I never had to take one. No, he does not have to take the course. When I asked DPS about this the lady on the phone told me they don’t care about the hunters ed. You just need a valid license ... May I as...

Re: Oliver North to speak at 30.06ed Church
Yep, the NRA has had too many missteps in its history in terms of compromise on gun rights. There was a period of years a few decades ago where I intentionally let me membership lapse because of the weak leadership. We don't need that again.

Re: Revolver guys will love this video
Interesting techniques. I wonder why he shifts the gun from his right to his left hand in order to reload? Seems like every time you shift the gun from hand to hand, especially in a high stress situation, you run the risk of fumbling or dropping it. The speedloaders are already on your left side, th...

Re: Rangemaster Tom Givens Instructor Course
Sounds like good training. A couple of questions: Rough idea of cost for class? Ammo alone will be in the hundreds of dollars for that many rounds. You talk about "certification." Is his certification recognized by anyone? For example, DPS requires a nationally recognized instructor certif...

Re: Student Visa?
This is directly from DPS: " They must be eligible as an non-immigrant and submit all required documents(US Visa, I-94, and a valid hunting license). " Chas. Well, since I am not familiar with how DPS defines some of those terms, 1. Is a student visa holder a non-immigrant or an immigrant...

Re: Student Visa?
So if my friend gets a Texas hunting license, he can then buy and own a gun? I guess he would have to first take a hunter safety course to get a hunting license?
Would that also qualify him to be allowed to apply for a LTC?

Student Visa?
Seems like this is my year to receive questions that I have never been asked before. I met a young man from England who is here on a F1 Student Visa. He wants to buy a gun and get a LTC. Not sure what the law is on either of those. I know that permanent resident legal aliens can do both, but not sur...

Re: On line classes have started
There's a requirement for the on-line students to receive 1 to 2 hours of range instruction, and to conduct the Range Proficiency Exam. Govt Code 411.188 (on pg 18 of the 2018 LTC-16) says: (d-1) A qualified handgun instructor shall require an applicant who successfully completed an online version ...

Re: Balistol vs Hoppes
I have always had a problem with any "CLP" product that claims to both clean and lubricate. Think about this: In order to properly clean a gun, a substance has to be a solvent which dissolves dirt, grime, old dirty lubricants, etc. If a product dissolves lubricants, how can it also be a lu...
