Budget is like any budget, the lower the better ;)
I'm hoping I can find a decent place for $13-1400 ?

Re: Gun owner - landlord discrimination ?
Thanks for the comments folks, they do help.
I can't rent an apartment, I absolutely must have a 3/2/2 house. I have a office (for when I get a day to work at home) a master and a guest bedroom for my father who visits every couple of months.
I don't know if my current landlord will provide a reference or not. I hope he will, but, given his mind set, who knows.
Can anyone suggest areas to stay away from outside of 635/LBJ ? I don't know the rest of the DFW area as well as I would like and have zero knowledge of some parts and it would be most helpful to decide which areas to concentrate on or consider as an alternate given my time constraints.

Re: Gun owner - landlord discrimination ?
No clauses about guns at all in the present lease agreement.
I think moving is the best option, I just don't know whom to contact to assist in locating a place and then of course locating movers that don't have long memories or sticky fingers. Being a shooter and reloader is a docile pastime but I would still like to keep the details of both to myself.
During times like these, I can see a definite niche for bonded and background checked movers that deal in moving lead, ammo, gun safes etc. and can either appreciate the stuff for what it is, or be honest enough to care less.
It could very well be the landlord has other intentions for the place, but he put a sign in the front yard today indicating the place will be available for lease "coming soon".
I am on the hunt, so if any of you know of a place, don't hesitate to drop me a line. I can use all the help I can find right now. Any recommendations for a person/company that locates lease property would also be helpful.
As far as dealing with the landlord himself, he is kind of terse since this all came up, but I wish the man no ill will. Since I took on the responsibility of being a CHL holder many years ago, my instincts are now geared more toward deescalation than revenge. I won't lose any sleep over him one way or the other.
I will definitely take pics and have a couple of witnesses during the process to verify the condition of the place when I move out.
Right now, I'm stressing over finding a new place and getting settled again. I'm sure it will work out, but I'm one of those who likes things in order on the home front and this is not something I relish.
Thanks to all for the helpful suggestions. If any other suggestions arise, please post them or send me a PM.

Re: Gun owner - landlord discrimination ?
I'm not sure how he found out and I am very judicious about keeping guns and gear out of sight. Neighbors on both sides know I carry because I have invited them to go to the range with me over the years. One couple has their CHL and the other is gone most of the year.
I am well aware of the importance of being low-profile and have taken great care (obviously not enough) to remain non-remarkable in this respect.

Gun owner - landlord discrimination ?
I just got notice from my landlord that he is not going to offer a renewal on my lease "since I own guns and ammo".
So, first priority, I need a 3/2/2 in the DFW area (Plano/Grapevine/Frisco area preferred but open to any safe location) with a landlord that isn't anti-gun and worried about the potential liability of having a tenant who owns and carries.
Secondly, I feel violated and somewhat betrayed. I have been here several years with zero problems making the lease/rent and no problems with any of the neighbors. I am a good neighbor, this is a great neighborhood and very low traffic.
I am in my early 50's and don't party like a rock star or have any drama in my life. Some might think I'm boring, but it has taken most of my life with effort and great care to get my life to a point where it is low drag. In short life is good, except I now have to scramble to find a place to live.
Is there any possibility I can (legally) force my landlord to reconsider ? Ive assured him I'm not about to become a thug, gangster or middle aged rap star and begin shooting up the neighborhood. I have also reminded him that until he found out I am a gun owner he has had zero issues with me as a tenant.
He isn't budging on it - period. He is as anti-gun as one person could possibly be and has made off hand remarks about Republicans and Tea Party "idiots", neither of which hold rallies at my home.
I don't mind telling you, I'm bummed about this and being on the dime to find a place with a non-anti-gun landlord is a bit scary because I don't exactly know how to approach the subject with a new prospective lessor.
Sorry to vent, this has somewhat blind-sided me and to say I am a little disappointed is an understatement.
Any suggestions ?
