Re: concealed in a vehicle
Why push the envelope? Well, there are a couple of reasons. 1) I was the target of an attempted car jacking years ago, so I know first hand how quickly things can go "south" on you, even with good situational awareness. (Yes, I was armed and saw them coming from their very first move, and ...

Re: concealed in a vehicle
Like the OP, I've been thinking about this. I was considering one of the under dash arrangements (like in the first pic on Molon-labe's post, but maybe more under the steering column for better "concealment") - is this legally considered concealed if it's not visible from outside the vehic...

Re: Interesting Conversation at the IRS Office
This is why I put my CHL in a opaque sleeve behind by DL - that way, if I have to pull the DL out for someone, they won't be able to see the CHL unless I specifically pull it out...I figure I show my DL at the bank a whole lot more often then I ever interact with an LEO, and why advertise to the tel...

Re: Did I do the right thing?
I think you did just fine, and hope my neighbors would do the same.
As for the comments about calling 911, I think I would have dialed the neighbor first - why involve LE when a quick call would clarrify the situation???

Re: How Many Of You Go Unarmed Out Of State?
Back to the original topic, I carry when driving out of state specifically because of the types of people you encounter at rest stops and interstate gas stations. It always seems like the dregs of society congregate/accumulate along the interstates... Once I get to our destination (generally visitng...

....League City is not a safe place to live! Sorry to hear of your problems LocknLoad, but in our section of League CIty I have had no problems at all...granted, we are in a newer development and not in "League City Proper", but our subdivision has had very few issue in the 12 years I've ...

Re: School shooter shot by armed student
If you read the full article linked to by casinpoint, the student that shot the BG in the head did say both he and the off duty IDF paratrooper emptied their magazines into him after he dropped...he also proudly stated that he was using a AK-47 provided to him by his President and the government, bu...

Re: Clarification on the Castle Doctrine
Thanks for the clarification guys. My class was in the first week of October, and the final version hadn't been published at the time... going back and reviewing the final version linked above, there were some significant changes we didn't learn about. Just another example of why this site is such a...

Re: Clarification on the Castle Doctrine
First off, I'm not a lawyer, I'm just a dumb engineer, so my opinion doesn't really mean much... That said, the way our instructor explained it to the class was this - you can still be sued in civil court, but "self defense" is an "affirmative defense" to civil liabilities for yo...

Re: Brother-in-Law Held up at Gunpoint
Check out http://www.targetfocustraining.com. I've got their "weapons" DVD package, and was impressed enough that I'm going to try to attend a 2 day training class this year. Video's show numerous examples of how to get out of the situation your buddy was in (gun held to side of head), but...

I think we should just ban black clothes...I mean, every mad man that goes on a rampage is described as "dressed in black", right? It must be those eveil black clothes making them kill all those innocent people

Sounds like fun!Unfortunately, I'm probably not going to make it...wife's birthday is Saturday, and it sounds like she wants me to take her fishing on Sunday, assuming the the offshore forecast holds...oh well, guess it could be worse, she could want me to take her shopping!

If you're looking for a sub-compact, I'll through out the Rohrbaugh R-9 for your consideration. Mine's in my pocket whenever I'm not at work... Pluses are its small overall size, 9MM caliber, and overall build quality. Euro style mag release on butt of grip is not the fastest method, but probably be...
