Re: Guns + Roommates using Marijuana

What about all the college kids drinking underage in their apartments, and buying beer for minors? Do you think just because Austin PD hasn't gone on a major crackdown on this that it's not going to bite people like OP. It's a crime! Do you want to take the chance of having a LTC while living with degenerate 20 year olds who drink malt liquor?

Even if OP is 21 and doesn't drink or do drugs he could conceivably be hit with a violation for carrying while intoxicated from the contact high. The determination is 100% up to the cop to decide and you could even take the ride for a low dose aspirin.

OP should immediately report his roommates to the DEA and Texas Rangers and then apply to be a confidential informant in return for immunity from the crimes he is committing by living with stoners.

Breaking the lease is the least of his worries, when you compare to the kingpin statutes that the DEA will indict him under for having LTC and living with stoners. The death penalty applies when they tie the marajuana residue on a table with OP's fingerprints hence implicating him in Sinaloa Cartel murders.

It's all fun and games until you do 30 years in a SuperMax because the feds found a seed in your ball cap. I desperately hope that the original poster take the wise counsel of those of us with a half century or more of life under our belts. He should seriously consider a 12 step program to break the horrible addiction of walking past rope smokers...and to apologize to all the people's lives he has irreparably damaged by "allowing" his acquaintances to partake of the devil weed.

I pray his soul is not too far gone for redemption. Give the LTC back to the state and break the lease, young man. Only when you have completely redeemed yourself may you continue in the esteemed company of us who have been granted the great privilege and responsibility of carrying a handgun on or about our person in Texas. :txflag:

Re: Guns + Roommates using Marijuana

There are a lot of misdemeanors going on all day every day around all of us. Everyone is up in arms because of the MJ. What about underage drinking, likely going on in every college apartment regularly? Maybe it's a class C vs. a class B, but I'm sure we can all find tons of stuff going on around us too.

It's kind of like telling someone move out of your neighborhood because it's a bad area. Well sorry I can't afford to live in Beverly Hills and i'm stuck in a lease with a bunch of drunks and potheads. Leave it in the car, in a lockbox if you're really worried. But i'm not giving up my protection because other people around me do bad stuff. Go find a place in Austin where no college kids smoke weed...good luck. I already need to move out of Flower Mound because my neighbor leaves his trash cart out in front of my house for more than 24 hours in violation of city code. Now the police might think it is mine and I have a LTC. I better leave quick before he waters his lawn on the wrong day and it looks like I'm watering...

I'll bet you OP's roommates don't even recycle  . In Austin that's worse than smoking weed. :evil2:

Re: Guns + Roommates using Marijuana

What? Where's all the Rand Paul libertarians on this Forum pushing for ending all drug laws and allowing legal pot? Why is the government telling me what I can put in my own body? Beer is just as bad as flakka and meth, and there's no law against beer. Beer kills way more people than heroin and PCP...

I'm tired of my constitutional right to do shrooms being violated.

You can legally keep it in your car on the property and probably even in your apartment without any criminal sanction regardless of the lease, but if the apartment finds out they may cancel your lease or evict you. On the other hand they may cancel your lease and evict your roommates for smoking dope...

If you got a LTC and you wish to carry when you're not inhaling secondary fumes from your pothead roommates, you should leave it in your car in Austin. Maybe get a lockbox chained/welded to your seats/floorboards. That's what a lot of people who can't carry at work do.

Re: Guns + Roommates using Marijuana

Even worse, you could face Federal 'Kingpin' charges if the weed residue on your buddies' pipe traces to the Drug Gangs in Mexico. Then you could be on the hook for the death penalty...for the murders committed by the Sinaloa Cartel. You never know when you're going to get an anti-gun anti-MJ US Attorney, especially in Austin. :biggrinjester:

On the other hand, if you leave it in the car, you probably have little chance of getting caught up on drug charges. It increases the chances of your gun being stolen...but then so does having it in the apartment with pothead roommates. If you don't want to move, I'd leave it in the car. ;-)
