What criminal law will you be charged with if you shoot a dog that is attacking you? Discharging a firearm in city limits? Animal cruelty? Hunting out of season... :shock: Poaching? Destroying a person's property?

The necessity defense would be quite easily available for any of these? It's nice that the health and safety code says you can kill a coyote...if it's attacking your livestock, but what law says you can't kill any animal that is attacking you? And why wouldn't 9.22 (necessity) apply?

A dog is property, not a person. Though there is no reason to wantonly kill them, there's a much lower standard for necessity, than for crimes against a PERSON. :rules:
