Yeah, it's completely useless. Since I'm in my 40's, it even compounds the confusion further.

It seems like such a large corp. would have some sort of 'training document' for this...

Like I said, normally it's the younger (un-informed) employees that do this.

Since I live out towards Drippin' - thats "central" to me. And I work at the Capitol so it's a quick 5 miles.

I hate to admit it, but WM is the cheapest in town. Just buggin' me about the "is this for a handgun?" policy.

Carry Meathods

For my Carry Weapon, I'll be using a KT PF-9 in a pocket holster- mainly due to size and my clothing. You guys have any suggestions for a medium frame in the warmer seasons? I usually don't have a jacket, but I wear a tucked-in shirt with a tie. OWB is out (obviously) and IWB is not too concealable ...

The Brassed Case Monarch is OK (Serbian). Shoots just fine in my Sigma, KT PF9 and my 995 Carbine.
I've had problems with the Steel Cased Stuff.

As for my ammo buys at WallyWorld, it's a mixed bag. On my lunch break I can go to the WW downtown Austin- I always get the older gent who is knowledgeable and sells it to me right there at the counter. In the evening when I'm shopping with the family, I always get the younger clerks who don't know ...

Red's south. Its a great little indoor range. Quite a few LEO's there on occasion. Nice folks, price is a little steep @ $14/hr.
But at least I can go there when it rains. 100yards.

So if I do the app online, pay my $140, what do i receive? An envelope for my certificate, passport photos and fingerprints? Will I have to fill out the app again?

What I'm getting at- is there an advantage to doing the on-line application?
or is it more confusing for the DPS clerks?

Thanks!

CHL Application Process

New to the forum. New to CHL. Long Time shooter and happy State of Tx employee... I just find it a bit confusing on the DPS site as to the process. Take the class first? Do I fill out the on-line application first? (the on-line app states you WILL take a class...) I was under the impression I'd take...
