Parking lot security was highly visible, which was nice as I had some luggage in my truck including several guns.

Bottom line: Talk is cheap, and radio shows exist to get ratings. The guy said what he said for reasons that we cannot know. But where the rubber meets the road, the place is not posted. So I would say that it is as friendly to CHL's as any other place we might go that is also not posted.

I have probably spent $10,000 at Taste of Texas over the years. I really enjoy the restaurant. But I won't be going back unless Ed changes his tune on CCW there.

When I heard it on the air, I didn't catch the part about "high profile clients that require it as well." I wonder what this is about? Could it be due to them possibly having armed security with them and not wanting confusion if there is a shooting?

I also forgot how condescending he was to the caller as well.

Edd,

I was listening to your show this past Friday (4/11) when you stated that your business is posted. The caller indicated 30.06 and you didn't refute this, so I will have to assume that it is a 30.06 posting. I was floored by this statement. You have talked many times about personal defense and having your CHL. I'm surprised that you would make the choice to post at your business.

This just advertises to criminals that there will be no legal CHL holders carrying in the restaurant. The posting does nothing to stop a criminal from bringing a firearm onto the premises.

You indicated that this decision was due to your restaurant being prominent and having high profile guests. This seems counterintuitive to me. Wouldn't this possibly lead to an increased risk of a shooting incident? Especially if the patron is considered controversial by some?

You stated that I, as a CHL holder, could just remove my firearm, leave it in the car and then put it back on when I left the restaurant. I do not view this as a valid way to protect myself or my family if I'm eating and someone comes in and starts shooting. You have also indicated on your show that there have been several vehicle break-ins in the parking lot. This prevents me from feeling comfortable about leaving a firearm in my vehicle.

You said on the air today that you have re-joined the NRA. I would also suggest that you join the TSRA if you haven't already done so. They are just as important at the local level as the NRA is on the national level.

My wife and I have enjoyed coming to your restaurant and I have entertained clients, employees and prospective employees at your restaurant. I will no longer do this.

I hope that you will reconsider your choice to post at your business.

Without hearing the call, this would be my position as well. However it was very clearly asked if he posted at his business and he said yes. Then as sbb indicated in his post, Mr. Hendee went on to explain that you could take off your firearm and leave it in the car and put it back on once you left the restaurant.

He knew exactly what he was saying.

I have actually been there twice in the past three months (before I heard this on the radio) and specifically looked for a sign and did not see one.

As you enter the restaurant, there are two sets of double doors with about 10-12 feet between them. In that area that are numerous plaques, articles and awards. It may be in there and I've just missed it.

I enjoy entertaining folks there as well. Next time I go, I'll look to see if it's properly posted.

I actually mainly listen for Pat Gray. I never did care for Hendee. He seems to shut people up if they disagree with him and then laughs at them. Pat Gray is getting that way a little. I find myself listening to XM more and more. I wish they would put Glenn Beck on in that time slot.

I was listening to the Pat and Edd show this morning on am700 here in Houston.

Edd Hendee is one of the hosts and owner of Taste of Texas restaurant. He talks on the radio fairly frequently about having his CHL and about gun control not being the solution.

A caller this morning was discussing gun control and going over all of the criteria for someone to obtain a CHL here in Texas and towards the end of the call he asked Edd if his business was posted and he said YES. The caller said that he would never visit his restaurant and that got Edd a little hot and he went on to say that it was private property and his right to post if he wanted. Edd went on to explain that because it is a prominent restaurant that has high profile customers, that he felt it was best for people to not carry in his restaurant. He then mentioned discussions with his insurance company but didn't give any specifics as to whether they essentially forced him to post.

I was shocked that his initial response was that the reasoning was because it was a prominent restaurant with high profile customers. Wouldn't that actually make it more likely to have a shooting?

I have been there several times (not carrying) and have never notice that it was posted.

I'm incredibly frustrated to learn that "one of the good guys" posts at his place of business.
