Re: DPS Processing Times

Well you would think with enough people contacting their state reps, some govt official would start to get pushing to get the DPS in shape to be on time regardless of the higher rate of apps received. I am sure they do not get contacted via email, letter and call as many tiems wanting better roads or cleaner air and they do about delays in CHL apps lol!

Re: DPS Processing Times

NEW OR RENEWAL: New
NAME: Nintao
DATE A COMPLETE APPLICATION RECEIVED BY DPS: July 16th, 2008
DATE PIN # LETTER MAILED: My letter is dated August 8th, 2008 (still in Processing App)
DATE LICENSE WAS RECEIVED: incoming showed active on Oct. 23rd
TOTAL NUMBER OF DAYS IN PROCESSING: 99!
DID YOU RECEIVE A LETTER FROM DPS REGARDING A DELAY: Nope
DID YOU CAUSE ANY DELAY IN PROCESSING. IF YES, EXPLAIN: N/A
IF DPS GAVE YOU A VERBAL EXPLANATION (EXCUSE) FOR ANY DELAY, PLEASE EXPLAIN: pick any excuse you want, they make it up on the fly!
WOULD YOU BE WILLING TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION LATER: Yes

Any time I emailed the DPS or called them, I got random excuses and sob stories. I wanted to tell them what I thought, but simply stated that I could not tell them anythign that they have not already heard!

Around day 95 or so I contacted 2 stated reps, the Lt Gov and Gov's Offices. I heard back from all but the Lt Gov (Senator's Office called and the other's emailed) and BAMM less than a week later went to Active and even had a message from DPS telling me my CHL was mailed out 10-23-08 (they seamed very pro-active about telling me it was mailed out the day before and gave their name 3 times during the call... so someone lite a fire under them)! From what I gather (and was told) many people contact their local reps about this problem and if you have been waiting a long while, they will try to get you moved up. I explianed to them how many people including a coworker were sending in their apps a month after me, but were already showing active. So contact your elected officials, it worked for me!

Re: DPS Processing Times

I do not know whether to be discouraged or excited as I see that several posts here show DPS receiveing packets after me, yet already having plastic issued. My record is clean, so maybe they don't like me :(. I am currently at day 86 since they received my info! Perhaps it is the speed at which the BG checks come in??? If that is the case, curse the city/county of Dallas!

I think they should replace those working in that department with those that have had to endure the bull wait times our great government forces upon us and I bet things would run much much smoother!

So again, since I am kinda clueless on where to start on the State Rep contact, where do I look for that info so that I might get them fighting for my case???

Re: DPS Processing Times

So any clue as to which state rep I should contact in a futile attempt to get this thing before I am too old to wield a firearm??

I live in Dallas!

Re: DPS Processing Times

So October 4th will be 90 day mark for me... I just emailed them being a bit more pushy for answers... if they go pass the 90 day mark, can they get into trouble? Other than legal help and $$ on my part of course.

Man I wish they would hurry up!

I heard a short hwile back they hired 12 more people to help with the processing after some politician's CHL took forever to get... I think anyway...

This was my wife's license. I mailed my app about two weeks later, hopefully I will have mine soon also.
Well mine was received 6 days later, but the Pin number was issued the same day...

Hopefully I can see mine soon as well!

After recenetly hearing back from them I got what I am sure is a standard response of "Your application is in the final stage of processing... please wait a little longer"

But after seeing your post I am a bit more optimistic.

I will update this as I get new info.

I know if I was slow at my job I would lose it! I knew it was going to be a frustrating ride, but enough is enough! My record is clean so should not have any delays there. I emailed them this morning (Sept 14hth), so lets what they tell me!
