The PA 1-6 with ACSS reticle is very good as well as the Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6. I've also used the Nikon 3x32 as mentioned and it's a nice scope as well. Any of these 3 will work for what you are wanting.

Glad nothing bad happened to you and glad you are now carrying at home. I've been carrying at home for many years now and have had to clear leather more times in my front yard than out and about.

I've never seen any type 30.06, 30.07 signs like here in TX. Heck last week in Breaux Bridge I saw a local wearing a G30 OWB in a convenience store/truck stop.

With mine I just tighten it by hand when the slide locks back.

I have a 686 Talo 3" and carry it in a Desantis 001 OWB holster. Rides nice and comfortable.

I'm glad they took the $3 and left. Lots of good suggestions here. As soon as those three got out of that car it was Draw time. 3 on 1 is a fear for your life moment. There is no reason to wait until you are attacked to draw your weapon especially when you have a child with you.
