Re: Carry @ Gun Range/Store?

The Annoyed Man wrote:I've actually asked that question at every range I've been to (Quail Creek excepted), and the answer was always "keep it concealed until you're at the firing line and need to shoot it." I don't bother asking at gun stores. If it's not posted, I don't worry about it. The reason Quail Creek is excepted is that I did not yet have my CHL the last time I went there, and I ever a goin' back there again. The ROs there are rude, foolish men.
At Plano's Bullet Trap, they have a sign posted on the front door saying "All weapons must be unloaded and cased before entering". Not a valid 30.06 sign, and they teach CHL classes so you can bank on them knowing that. Their policy is really that your own weapons should stay hidden from common observation while in the shop area, except while looking to trade in. For anyone except a CHL holder, hiding a gun from common observation can only be legally done by unloading and casing it. While on the firing line, you are allowed to unholster a concealed weapon but cannot practice drawing and firing; the act of unholstering should be considered similar to uncasing a weapon.
