I believe there are a few, very limited instances in which a US citizen can carry a pistol in Mexico . . .

1) If part of a previously approved joint operation with an arm of the Mexican government . . .

2) If the person is covered by diplomatic immunity . . .

Otherwise, even a single round of pistol ammo in your trunk can land you in jail.

Mexico isn't our friend - for a variety of reasons - so I have no plans to go there.
