Re: CHL holder killed by police in Las Vegas at a Costco
After following the links posted and reading the local (LV) news articles, I always find myself reading the comments left by other readers. It's been enlightening.
For instance, people are saying "he (Mr. Scott) must have been up to no good - who needs a gun to go shopping at Costco?"
And not having any concept of "carrying" the fact that Mr. Scott was carrying a second gun just freaks them out even more.

IMHO, a holster shirt would be more comfortable than the groin holster. Ouch!

Re: CHL holder killed by police in Las Vegas at a Costco
Thanks for the link, I bookmarked the site. I found the comments posted by (alleged) LEOs after the story to be kind of refreshing.

Re: CHL holder killed by police in Las Vegas at a Costco
This lends to the "sketchyness" of this whole escapade. Surely a Vegas detective whose responsibilities include obtaining surveillance video would be aware of the requirements to view it (IMHO)? If not the detective the Costco security people would know the correct procedure.PeteCamp wrote:I think this is correct, but it could be in error. It is reported that the video surveillance system was one of the new top of the line systems by the same company that installs them in casinos. It uses a hard drive to record and they pulled the hard drive out and then could not read it because it was no longer attached to the main CPU and software. They sent it to an outfit in CA to see if they could find the video amongst all the directories on the hard drive.
What's next? Are they going to claim they put the hard drive on the dashboard and the speaker magnet erased it?

Re: CHL holder killed by police in Las Vegas at a Costco
The Vegas news outlets are reporting that the inquest has been postponed while they do "additional investigation".
Side note: According to the purported transcript of the radio traffic, the dispatcher advises that the situation is "escalating", "he is talking loudly". If "talking loudly" is escalation just how heated was any conversation in the first place?

Re: CHL holder killed by police in Las Vegas at a Costco
I've been following this incident via the Vegas local news outlets and the comments people are posting have been enlightening to say the least. Let's just say there's lots of folks that can't comprehend the CC mindset. One prevalent theme is "why would anybody need a gun to go shopping at Costco?, and "this guy" had two guns so he was obviously going to shoot up the place!"
The worst was something along the lines of "This is what happens when ordinary people misinterpet the second amendment and go around carrying guns."
I don't know about y'all, but every LEO I ever met was an "ordinary person" with a badge.
Its obvious that there's no shortage of easy targets for the badguys out there.
<sigh>

But then they might think you are reaching for your BUG in it's BTNH (behind the neck holster). Might be better to "reach for the sky".
