Combat Practice range

I've taken a few combat handgun courses and like to practice my draw and home anti-invasion tactics. However Practice with your CW of choice with live ammo is the best way to get better. No ranges I know of in DFW allow rapid fire at multiple targets or have an advanced walk through course? I have b...

Disapointed in Colt quality

I've purposely never bought a high $$ over $500 firearm. This colt defender in .45 was my first and I followed advise that you cant spend too much to defend yourself. I had an issue in the parking lot after work today where I thought I might need to pull my CCW. Luckily I didnt, thankfully as well. ...

Re: What is your home defense load or preference?

To address liko81's concerns, I purposely left out a few details. No offense to anyone on this board but I know you guys from Adam. As for the wife following me. I have my reasons but agee 2 would be better. On the flip side I know my house well and know where the BG would look for cover and have st...

Re: What is your home defense load or preference?

May god have mercy on the person whom invades my home, besides the alrarm, I have 3 large dogs that have been trained and are loyal. The wife and I are both CHL holders, she has a Tauraus Pro9m with 100Gr Corbon in her nightstand and I have a Colt Defender .45 with Corbon 160Gr in mine, on the way o...

Condition 1

OK, I've had several combat handgun courses and have never heard or should I say remember hearing condition 1, 2, 3 etc? I searched for condition 1 and got back websters. Can someone point me to where that info is. Want to make sure my terminology and habits are correct for this board? Like I call m...

Re: Carrying a Colt Defender ??

I still guess I am confused. I am an avid hunter except for this year.... I look for leathality (may or may not be a real word but I like it) of the weapon of choice. For hunting I use a multiture of rifles, 270, 30:06, 25:06 depending upon the game. I went with .45 thinking that it would be a all a...

Re: Carrying a Colt Defender ??

Yes this is my carry gun, I like the Galco Matrix snap over the belt holsters and extra mag holsters. If I need to remove the CCW and holster I can at once without exposing the trigger. I am a fairly competent shooter, have taken a few combat handgun courses and believe the only way to get better at...
