Re: M&P compact 9mm

I've used the M&P 9 Compact for the past few years as one of our "workhorse" training/rentals guns. Overall, very pleased with it's performance in that role. Only recently, did we experience a few misfires, but that I believe was more of an ammo problem than a striker problem.

Just this past Thursday, one of our Freedom Plan members called my cell phone to admit that he had just had a "negligent discharge" with his M&P. Yes, he did use the word "negligent" discharge and explained that he had just transitioned from shooting his XD to the M&P and there was enough of a difference in the trigger reset that he had a brain fart and put a .45 round into the perforated metal and insulation below the (bulletproofed) ceiling just a few feet downrange from our shoting stall #2.

One of my recent lady students liked the M&P better than anything she shot at DCSA and plans to buy one shortly. In checking availability and pricing for her at the Lewisville gun show today, there were only 4 of them available. Prices there were $460, $490 and one dealer who had 2 in stock and asking $546. She had planned to be there at 10:00 a.m. but her dog got snakebit early this morning and it sounded like she was dropping some even bigger $ at the Emergency Cinic instead. :cryin
