If they honestly believe less guns equals less crime, the solution is obvious.

Disarm the police in San Francisco!

It's within their power as employers to ban police from carrying at work like they can ban teachers from carrying at work and like Pizza Hut can ban drivers from carrying at work. It is the perfect opportunity to practice what they preach. If crime drops to zero and stays zero, they will be hailed as visionaries. On the other hand, if crime goes up, it's more evidence that gun control increases crime.

If San Francisco doesn't ban guns for cops, they're either hypocrites or something much more sinister.
