I haven't had the chance to use it for this yet, but I bought my Bushmaster Varminter specifically for hunting coyotes. It's the only "military" style rifle I own - unless you can count a Remington 700 VSF in .308 with a heavy fluted 26" barrel on an HS Precision stock as a military rifle. I have gone deer hunting with that one.
