Yes, it actually did make a very noticeable difference - about exactly what you would expect going from 14 lbs to 10 lbs should feel like, or about a 29% reduction in pull.03Lightningrocks wrote:You don't have to go to the range to try the DA trigger pull...inquiring minds want to know. New spring is in. It took me all of 2 minutes to swap out the springs. I was surprised at how easy it was. Now I've just got to get the new sights mounted.Carrots wrote:Great, happy to have helped. All you need to do is to use a punch to knock out the roll pin on the base of the grip, remove the small plastic covering panel & swap the spring over. I am no smith either but I was very pleased to be shown how easy it is (thanks SRVA!). i have Meprolights on my compact as well - good sights! Let me know how you get on.

Re: HK or Walther?
Oh man, I'm sorry dude. I should have thought of you. The springs are cheap though — $3.99 — and they have them in stock, so it can ship right away. The only problem is that, at $4.61, the shipping & handling was actually more than the spring. That's why I looked around for what else I might want and added the night sights to the order.killerfly128 wrote:The Annoyed Man wrote:Thanks for the tip. Anyway, I found it on Midway, and just ordered it - along with some Meprolight night sights.
Grrr, wish I had known you were going to order one, I would have gone in on that with you.

Why not try swapping the hammer spring out for either a 12lb or a 10lb one? I have been using 10lb hammer springs in all three of my H&Ks with no light strikes or other issues and they offer a much lighter DA pull. Swapping them out takes 2 minutes and Wolf sell them for about $5 each or three for $9. Stock weight is 14lb I believe, and IMO this is a mod which is well worth the small cost to try. Just a suggestion

Devil's advocate warning!gringogigante wrote:besides the obvious platitudes that one should hold and/or test fire a gun before they buy it, general opinions "revolving around the brand names" is what i was looking for. thanks for the info....it looks like most prefer, or at least have used, HK's. This says something to me in and of itself. I'm not knocking Walthers, to be sure. but that P30 looks reeeaallyy interesting.
Honestly, I'm having a bit of trouble overlooking the Sig 229 since I've been shooting Sigs for years. but, it may be time to step out of my comfort zone..
I own an H&K, a UPS Compact .40, and I carry it about a third of the time. I'm not in love with the gun, but it is a good gun - dead nuts reliable, built like a tank, and acceptably accurate. That said, I carry 1911s the other two thirds of the time, and when I'm carrying the H&K, I carry it cocked and locked - despite the decocker feature - because muscle memory makes me want to snap off a thumb-safety when drawing, and because the double action trigger pull on the USPc is beyond atrocious.
So, I'm looking pretty hard at SAO Sigs in .45 ACP these days, particularly the P220. They are sweeeeet!
Did I help any?
