That’s four concrete things that republicans can do while they hold the presidency and a congressional majority, and they should do it, not giving a hoot in hades what democrats think about it, because democrats set the precedent for that.
Democrats absolutely rammed Obamacare down our throats when they had the chance - without any republican support, and absolutely unconstitutionally. There absolutely IS a precedent - set by democrats - for ramming bills through congress and into law. And yet, republicans can’t or won’t do the same to protect an enumerated right?

Re: Can it be?: We may lose more gun rights under Trump than Obama?
Here’s the deal....... There is a profound difference between losing on the one hand because our representatives stood tall and did the right thing, but simply couldn’t muster enough votes to win; and losing on the other hand because our representatives sold us down the river. I assume - rightfully so - that the democrats will gladly sell us down the river on this issue. Therefore, winning absolutely depends on republicans standing tall and defending our rights. If we lose because republicans aren’t in the majority and don’t have the votes, then it can’t be helped, and they will not have completely lost my trust. But if we lose because they join the democrats in selling us down the river, then I can never again trust them with my vote. Ever. I voted for Trump, not really because I thought he was the ideal candidate, but because I couldn’t conceive of the alternative.DEB wrote:I was not going to post a reply, but after rolling it around a bit, I will post my take.
I have read CALGUNS for as long as I have been on this site and have watched their rights spiral downward. I also recall how those folks were stating how they would never vote Republican again and etc. It sure hasn't turned out good for them. I will continue to vote Republican as well as fully support the NRA, as I believe it will be far easier and even perhaps surer to change a Conservative to being more Conservative than changing an avowed Socialist/Liberal Democrat to being pro-gun and Conservative.
I do have my issues with Trump, with Cornyn and with Cruz, and very often with the NRA. But, they are all I have. Stopping Bump Stocks has been occurring almost every year that they have been out and to me, something that has been stopped via fiat, is easy to change back via fiat. Not right, but with that said, could you imagine what would be going on if Hillary and the Democrats fully controlled the Nation? Go ahead and be like those in California, don't support the Republicans and either don't vote or vote Libertarian and watch our rights rapidly dissolve. Not only gun rights, but also rights to worship, to speak your mind and etc. I don't want to be California, so I will support the viable alternative and work to change within. A fully disabled Republican Party and Gun Rights organizations are my worst nightmare. Because then the only alternative is the cartridge box, because Marxists don't give up or stop until either they or the alternative are fully exterminated. All of history is my witness.
So, I support Trump, I believe he has done more to improve America in his first year than any other President, including Reagan. I also support the NRA, under Wayne LaPierre, I have seen massive improvements in Gun Rights. There is a war going on and in my opinion, we cannot separate, we must remain together, or be prepared to become California lite for sure.
Right now, republicans have a majority, AND they have a president who would likely sign whatever bill they put in front of him - knowing that to do so would guarantee his reelection if he protected the 2nd Amendment from more democrat treason. I expect republicans to do their duty to protect the Constitution. They have ZERO excuse for failing to do so.
I lived in California my entire life until moving here in 2006. I know exactly why California is like it is.

Re: Can it be?: We may lose more gun rights under Trump than Obama?
I just came here to post basically the same story - but from the Daily Wire (https://www.dailywire.com/news/27706/be ... en-shapiro). If they pull this crap, I will never vote for another republican candidate again - at ANY level. Period. Since 2012, I’ve been a libertarian-leaning independent, and proud of being an independent. But if they pass this ....... if it even gets out of committee ..... I am all in with the Libertarian Party, and the GOP can pitch woo to my considerable posterior.DocV wrote:He can never walk back this statement attacking the 5th and 2nd to my satisfaction. Trump: 'Take the guns first, go through due process second'
This is by far the biggest problem statement from today
That act should have the same or similar process as a warrant to take away your 4th amendment.
