Re: Should I keep it at home?

I personally wouldn't leave anything of value (money-wise or sentimental) in a vehicle that will be spending time in a service facility. If you have a gunsafe in the vehicle that may be a different matter.

My dad made the mistake of leaving a pricey watch in his center console at NTB in Grapevine...well, it magically grew legs, even with the cops showing up and such.

You always hear "they are not responsible for your property" etc...well, one morning (years ago) I received a phone call from the dealership (car was there overnight for service)...."Sir, we need you to come down to the dealership to ID what's been taken from your car, we've had a break-in."

WHAT!??!!??

My nice, shiny, new (well a year or two old at the time) Mustang GT 5.0 was sitting on concrete blocks (tires & wheels GONE) minus the stereo, amp, subwoof, etc...

Suffice it to say that the dealer originally wanted me to use my insurance, I, of course, insisted that they take care of this, file it on their insurance, etc. They did...come to find out, it apparently was an inside job. So I ended up with everything being replaced, no cost to me, just the aggravation of the whole matter.
