At typical indoor fighting distances the shot column does NOT expand very much so a load of birdshot is basically a 70 caliber frangible round and WILL kill if aimed properly. Now if the Goblin was wearing HEAVY (motorcycle leather grade) clothing there would be little to no penetration of the shot.

NO buckshot does NOT knock a goblin flying, simple law of physics for every action there is and equal and opposite reaction. does the shotgun knock the shooter flying?

Sorry if I sound preachy about this but it is one of my pet peeves.
