A great mail day today. Not only did I get my plastic (app received by DPS 01/28/08) but I also got a free flight voucher from Southwest I didn't know I had coming.
I guess a "Wally Flight" would be a really bad idea, huh?

"Bring your gun to work" bill passes in Florida
Tuesday, April 15, 2008 TALLAHASSEE — Employers and business owners can no longer bar workers and shoppers from bringing guns onto their property and leaving the weapons locked inside their vehicles under a bill signed into law today by Gov. Charlie Crist. The new law allows employees and visitor...

Packing my things to leave here....
I was at the 75 day mark so I sent a polite e-mail saying that I just wanted to make sure that the State was not waiting on me for additonal info that I was unaware of. The e-mail reply came back today that the license was issued on 04/14/08 and that it should arrive within 7 to 10 days. For what it...

Re: 72 Days
It took me like 50 days to get my PIN. I was waiting for it to come in the mail the whole time and after 50 days I finally decided to send an e-mail requesting it. Hilarity ensued! Okay, I overstate. I got an e-mail the very next day telling me my PIN and when I went home that night the letter from ...

My nachos at Wally World are getting cold.
Called the State. The guy said everything was in order and they were just waiting on the background check.

But you did, in fact, understand the intent of the sign?

A Good Take on the Pizza Hut Delivery Guy
Here is a pretty good take on the story of the Pizza Hut delivery guy who was suspended for carrying...and saving himself...while on company time.

Although, it will help you in your defense if the dog in question is not a Chihuahua.

I am sure that our local Constabulary (and others') have some sort of yearly handgun marksmanship proficiency test or certification that they must pass and I was curious if anyone knows what a typical "qualifying" regimen would entail. I am sure the general populace (non-CHL) would wonder ...

"Property Owned/Controlled by Carrier"
I am still pre-plastic and, taking the advice of many on this board to wear the weapon and gear around the house to get used to it, I went out into the front yard carrying (concealed) to unload some groceries from the car....never setting foot off of the property. Was that legal? Can I carry to the ...

Re: When a gun-zone becomes a no-gun zone
Here is another one for you: I attended my daughter's volleyball tournament this weekend in Fort Worth (North Richland Hills, actually) in a nice new volleyball/hockey facility. It was not a school sponsored event, rather it was a select league and there were no 30.06 (or equivalent) postings. The v...

Source for Printable Targets?
I have run across several sources for printable targets on the internet but none seem to have a full sized silhouette target like we used for our CHL proficiency test. I am lucky enough to have a wide carriage printer at work (prints 24" wide) and could just print a few up to go to the range wi...

Renaming Gun Free Zones
I ran across this topic at a blog where the blogger is asking his readers to come up with a new name for what we now call (falsely) "Gun Free Zones". Here is the link to the blog post: http://www.imao.us/archives/009664.html There are a lot of good ones.....my personal favorite being: &quo...
