It's not exactly a "combat handgun." I think of it more like, "Maybe this will make them duck long enough for me to get out of there."And with it's small size, it goes places none of my other guns will.
A lightweight S&W J-frame is high on my wishlist, though. I'm thinking about the 340PD, which is the same size and shape as your 642, but with a scandium frame and titanium cylinder.
