Re: Instructor's Cert Renewal

Mine is the same way , I emailed them the other day , got a reponse as follows...

Seems that you done everything that it supposed to be done so far with regards of instructor renewal process. The instructor desk awaits for a management decision with regards of proficiency/range part to see if the instructor will need to shoot or not. When that it’ll be made the instructors will be notified by the department.

Thank you

Re: Instructor's Cert Renewal

DPS is really not making this easy at all for any of us , are they??
I've emailed them and as of yet still waiting on answer on some questions.
Granted I know they are getting lots of emails and calls so I will be patient.

Re: Instructor's Cert Renewal

Maybe this maybe just the beginning for us
DPS may want to us think it maybe too easy. ;-)
They didn't say anything on the shooting qualification as of yet.

Re: Instructor's Cert Renewal

I have an answer from DPS I'll post it as soon as I get home. Quick rundown don't. Need CHL-90

Ok just got home ....

Ok Here is what DPS sent me as a reply.....

Renewal Instructor are not required to complete a CHL-90. You may go online and complete the online test. The results are then forwarded to the division. We will then place your application in progress. We are not sure whether you are required to take proficiency, once we are notified we will let you know. If you have any further questions please feel free to contact the department at (800) 244-5744.

Re: Instructor's Cert Renewal

mec wrote:Ok. I just got the notification. I went online, signed in, filled out the preliminary stuff including checking off on affidavits and paying the money. I was prompted to download my 'checklist'. Up until this point, the process was exactly like the online application for CHL renewal. The checklist and and receipt I printed departed from the CHL renewal application in that it told me that my check list includes *(1) the checklist itself, and: (2) A completed CHL 90. (the cHL renewal asked for "proof of condition" specifying items that WERE NOT the items that they untimately required.)
I downloaded this form which is a generic instructor application. The unclear portions include Questions 1and 2 "Have you completed a handgun instructor's traing course?" and if so, the title of the course, class date and expiration date.
I have attended the primary course and each recertification since the program began. I do not remember the exact dates. My certificate merely states that it is good until 12/31/11.

Also unclear is question seven-List the firearms courses you have taught in the past. This one MAY be keyed to whether or not you are eligible for the short or full lenght original instructor class-and it may mean something else.

It is not clear, but it appears that they may want a copy of my current certificate.

There was no mention what-so-ever of any written test or shooting demonstration.
I have sent an e-mail request for clarification and will wait to see if they send me any coherent response.

I agree also those questions , I may try to call DPS tomorrow to help unless someone chimes in before then

Re: Instructor's Cert Renewal

Well , I emailed DPS today with my question...

I`m up for my first renewal this year and I`m curious on how this works.

Will I get something in mail or email letting me know when I need to start this process.

Need to know what location where this will be going on and dates if possible.

Thank you

and this is the response I got .....

Sorry for the inconvenience but, is too early in time to have a response in regards of the renewal certificates that would expire at the end of 2011.

The department awaits this information also from our training department, but probably it’ll not happen until the middle of this year sometime.

Thank you

Re: Instructor's Cert Renewal

So I was reading in the instructor renewal part on the DPS website , from what I got we have to pay ahead of time then packet will be mailed with the dates of classes and we can choose which we would like to attend. Am I reading this right? And it is a 1 day class also ;-)
Or like said does DPS let us know we need to attend? This is my first renewal little confused.... :confused5
Guess I`ll give DPS a ring monday..... :coolgleamA:
