Re: What is "Failure to conceal"?
Here's is the legal definition of "concealed handgun" (Texas Government Code 411.171): (3) "Concealed handgun" means a handgun, the presence of which is not openly discernible to the ordinary observation of a reasonable person. And here's this: Sec. 46.035. UNLAWFUL CARRYING OF H...

Re: Check if gun is stolen?
Simple answer, no. Running serial numbers through TCIC/NCIC for returns would be the only way to determine whether a firearm has been stolen, or I should say, reported stolen. Like any database, some of the information in TCIC/NCIC is inaccurate or incomplete. I once heard of a gentleman that a fire...

Re: What to buy my wife?
Here's my advice: 1. Take your wife to gun store. 2. Offer her guidance in picking a weapon she likes, is comfortable with, and most importantly, is of a size and sort that she will carry rather than just leaving it at home. 3. Teach her to use said weapon. Is your wife capable of driving a motor ve...

Re: Cav Arms Raided by ATF
Being friends with the folks at CavArms, allow me to share the few details that I have been told: 1. All the inventory, computers, paperwork, and office materials were taken by the ATF. 2. They are still able to operate, manufacture, but this is difficult considering the lack of computers, paperwork...

Re: PC 46.02 - UCW and PC 46.15(b)(6) - Non-Applicability
I question the logic of allowing a person to carry a concealed handgun, but to draw a mysterious line in the sand when it comes to carrying a club or knife. Which seems more logical? That of a list of 9 things, all under the same heading: (1) One of the 9 (not the first, or the last, but the sixth) ...

PC 46.02 - UCW and PC 46.15(b)(6) - Non-Applicability
§ 46.02. UNLAWFUL CARRYING WEAPONS. (a) A person commits an offense if the person intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly carries on or about his or her person a handgun, illegal knife, or club if the person is not: (1) on the person's own premises or premises under the person's control; or (2) in...

Re: Requesting experiences and thoughts on Lasers
Firing from close retention is always the end to a series of mistakes, in my opinion, allowing your opponent to close from gunfight distance to fistfight distance. Of course, sometimes it's all you've got and it's unavoidable. One thing I'd like to repeat, and I really can't take credit for it, is t...

Re: Requesting experiences and thoughts on Lasers
I think a lot of folks get in a twist about lasers because they are thinking that lasers should replace their primary aiming device (e.g. sights); rather, lasers are most useful in augmenting or supplementing the pistol sights. Also, when static or dynamic on the square range, the utility of lasers ...
