Re: Who didn’t lose power?
I live in Friendswood. I never lost power or natural gas. Water pressure dropped and I am under a boil water notice, but that is the worst that happened to me.

Re: Nobody but Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
It's probably more accurate to say that grid failures CAN be cascading events. The article above says the real cause was a software bug that prevented operators from knowing they needed to redistribute the load. The failure in the article WAS a cascading event. The cause was indeed a software failu...

Re: Nobody but Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
The power losses are due to a variety of factors, not only wind/solar failures. Gas & coal plants also had problems. By Wednesday, 46,000 megawatts of power were offline statewide — 28,000 from natural gas, coal and nuclear plants and 18,000 from wind and solar, according to the Electric Reliab...

Re: Stay Warm and Safe the Next Few Days
My understanding is that the amount of water vapor in the natural gas going through the pipelines was high enough to be a problem at very low temperatures, thus the clogs were dependent upon the freezing temperature of water, not the gas itself. Pipeline natural gas is dried to a maximum water cont...

If it is a 586, it is likely nickle plated, not stainless.

Re: post-election reflection
Real Clear Politics has pulled Pennsylvania for Biden. His electoral count is now 259, below the 270 threshold. There are four states yet to be called: Arizona - 11 electoral votes - Biden +14,746 Georgia - 16 electoral votes - Biden +12.291 North Carolina - 15 electoral votes - Trump +74,821 Pennsy...

Re: "Protesters" are on the way... as planned now for weeks
NOBODY is talking about the faithless elector factor. We had a small handful of faithless electors in 2016, but it did not change the outcome of the election. In a race this close, it very much could. Oh just imagine this scenario. Biden gets exactly 270 after all the (re)counts and lawsuits. Come ...

Re: Hope!
The Majority vote decides the cases to take, Roberts voting with the Libs have kept the Supremes from deciding a gun related case, they are now no longer the majority! i think it only takes four justices to agree to hear a case. Unless the four conservative justices think they can get a fifth vote,...

Re: Hope!
I wonder how ACB will change the dynamics of the ninth circus court. Until now, they could rule however they wish with the comfort that the SCOTUS would let stand their rulings. Now they have to worry about being overturned and the SCOTUS decision becoming the law of the land.

Re: Hope!
Now that we have a five justice majority (Barrett, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, Alito, and Thomas) my hope is that they rule strict scrutiny is the appropriate standard to test the constitutionality of any leftist gun-control laws! Notice I omitted Justice Roberts from the list because my gut tells me he ma...

Re: Early Voting
I showed up to vote at 8:00AM, when the polls opened. The line was snaking around the parking lot. This is Friendswood, a predominately R community. I hope this reflects voter enthusiasm.
