Re: Anti-gun Dem appointed??
The picture is from a Phelan appointment in 2023. Current chairman is Bryan Hughes. But yes, he has been appointed speaker pro tempore. https://www.elpasotimes.com/story/news/politics/texlege/2025/02/18/el-paso-lawmakers-assigned-committees-joe-moody-named-speaker-pro-tempore-of-texas-house/78619988...

Re: My US House Rep Sylvia Garcia sends helpful hint for illegal aliens
My US House Representative Sylvia Garcia sent me an email full of helpful hints for illegal aliens to thwart BP and ICE efforts. I hope Trump has all the sanctuary city politicians who flaunt federal law are arrested by FBI swat teams like they did Trump's allies, taken directly before a judge and ...

Attorney General Ken Paxton Files Appeal to Prevent Unlawful State Fair of Texas Firearms Ban From Taking Effect: https://x.com/TXAG/status/1838308472263447021 I know either way it will be repealed again so there is probably a very slim chance anything changes this year. The only way I see this mak...

Re: Who's watching the forum?
Back in the dinosaur days of the internet some of us used what we referred to as a NSA signature on our email and usenet postings. It was all words and phrases that we thought the NSA was scanning for. Perhaps I'll come up with an ATF/FBI signature for here.

Re: Caldwell county new gun law
any dividing of a property constitutes a subdivision. So if I hack 8 acres off my 100 to gift to my kid that is a subdivision of property, a plat must be done, and the rules apply. I'm not so sure. Need a cite on that "any dividing of a property..." idea. Sec. 232.001. PLAT REQUIRED. (a) ...

Re: Caldwell county new gun law
Looking at the details, it looks like it only prohibits "the discharge of firearms in subdivisions on lots 10 acres or smaller". So, not all rural properties; just within subdivisions. From my reading (IANAL) of LOCAL GOVERNMENT CODE, TITLE 7. REGULATION OF LAND USE, STRUCTURES, BUSINESSE...

Re: Caldwell county new gun law
According to the Caldwell County website: Exceptions to the order include: The person is a peace officer on duty acting in an official capacity. Acting in self defense. Acting in defense of a third party. Acting in defense of property. So if the snake, hog, coyote[1], feral dog, etc is posing a th...

Re: NRA Annual Meeting 2024 in Dallas
Last time it was in Dallas, I carried both on DART and at the KBH Convention Center no issue. IIRC, when then President Trump spoke, again IIRC, carry was not allowed in the place where he was speaking as that was Secret Service controlled, but the rest of the site was OK. That is correct, along wi...

He's just the latest. "Since November 2022, eight firearms and ammunition prosecutions in total have been brought involving tourists from the United States, three of which are currently before the court with each of the defendants on bail." https://www.cbsnews.com/news/turks-and-caicos-amm...

Re: Bed, Bath and Beyond -Who could have guessed what Beyond meant?
Yeah, looks like they used their catalog software with a bunch of their data left in the database. Outdoors/Hunting is not a valid menu option and searching for "rimfire scope" doesn't bring up the item. Although it does bring up some interesting ones.
