PLUS add the fact that everyone there will have their cell phone camreas going full blast AFTER the fracas starts. Who will be the BG in those photos?
PS:
Who gets the penalty in the football games, the puncher or the retaliating punchee?

From another thread:
On the subject of "CONVERSATION", Mark Twain reputedly opined:
"Regardless of what people say they are talking about, the subject is money."
Alas, that subject never goes away.

Sure it's a lot of money but I don't think $21K for legal fees from a Civil Rights case in Federal Court sounds out of reason to me. If you think that it does then you probably haven't retained the services of a top notch attorney lately.
It just re-enforces my intention and desire to keep myself out of court to the greatest extent possible. Which includes me keeping my mouth shut and my gun in it's perch at Walmart unless it's just absolutely unavoidable. Can you imagine what it would cost to defend yourself against criminal charges and then a Wrongful Death suit in a Civil Court?....oooops...wrong thread.
ABSOLUTELY!
This should be a sticky, not only for this particular topic but for the entire forum.

Yepper, that or perhaps ask the oaf and his buddies if they'd like to go ahead of you. Another thought would be to ask the cashier to call the manager or security or the police or his/her momma or just scream.J Wilson wrote:Maybe Im'e looking at this a little differently than most.I think if I was in the same situation while with my kid, and the same thing happened,I would just back my cart out and go to another checkout. As I get older,I want less confrontations in my life.Sometimes minding your own business will keep you out of a "Flee or Fight"situation.
Somehow, an altercation resulting in a shootout in a crowded checkout line at Wal-Mart, or anywhere else, really needs to be avoided 'cause it's gonna' really be bad/messy. Now then, if these clods had followed you into the parking lot and to your ride, that's a horse of a totally different color. But, had the cashier called the manager/security as you had asked, you could have had an escort.

Re: encounter at wallyworld - calling all armchair QB's
You nailed it, Pete. There seem to be many folk who apparently think a CHL is some sort of Batman License and it's now the licensee's mission to correct the world's ills ala Bruce Wills and/or Nicolas Cage and various CD/TV shoot 'em up games, etc. These same folk may be missing this parenthetical phrase, "...(depending on the cops and prosecutors involved)..." , in TAM's dissertation above.PeteCamp wrote:Maybe I misunderstood what you said. I assume you meant to draw your weapon. Correct? Please understand that had you drawn the weapon, given the situation you described, you would probably have been asked about eagerness by one of the investigating officers and quite possibly by a prosecutor in front of a grand jury. Far better for me to state it than for them to ask you.I get between my son and grab the other end of the cart and put my hand at the ready.
Have you ever heard the phrase, "An armed society is a polite society."? As someone carrying a deadly weapon, we should go further out of our way to avoid confrontations. If anything it has made me a "harder" person in that I am not as nice to people anymore.
Your testiness over my suggestion about being too eager to draw the weapon, only given in response to your invitation for comments, is telling. Maybe you shouldn't ask for comments.
Scary....

Re: encounter at wallyworld - calling all armchair QB's
Yep. Your kid has written that he knows the words and that he knows they are not nice words. Were these words not heard on your TV in your house? I have to agree with Carry-a-Kimber, you over-reacted to the rude, boorish behavior of an immature, self-aggrandizing and perhaps misbegotten {person}. A CHL is not a Batman's license.dewayneward wrote:
@ Old Gringo, are you thinking that I should have just let the guy cuss?
IANAL; however, I do have to report for jury duty next month. Good luck and God Bless.

Re: encounter at wallyworld - calling all armchair QB's
You are correct! I don't recall ever having heard of anyone being cussed to death. OTOH, drawing your gun under the situation described would have shown us how far south it would eventually go. What was that guy's name in the Costco in Las Vegas?dewayneward wrote:
I really think that it could have gone south real quick.
