PS...The break down is so easy on the XD that my wife cleans her own guns!! That has never happen with the S&W's or Colt's.

My wife has both an XD40SC 3" and XD40 4". Both are absolutely reliable and she handles them without a problem. It was her decision based on many available pistol options at home. Reliability, the trigger and grip safety, and most importantly, the guns fit her small hands, which actually was the kingpin of factors. S&W, Ruger, Colt, and Glocks that she used did not fit her hand. All are certainly reliable. She qualified at the CHL shooting test with a 242/250, having never shot rotating targets......or having a timed shoot with her XD40 4". I have to agree with her, her XD does feel right. Personally, I'm a 45 guy, though I did like the XD40sc well enough to go get myself one for a conceal auto. Good Luck in letting your wife make her own decision :)
