Looks like lots of folks giving gun leather a shot. Good stuff. I thought about posting some I made for myself, but they keep going away ........good looking tooling Eric .
Fighting the Christmas construction rush.....working out of the house leaves you no place hide from the work, then you feel guilty when you want play. I did make an IWB like Comptac for myself the other day, it looks sad, but works well considerin I used heat shrink gun....I ended up sewing the Kydex, which woked great.

Re: Homemade Holsters!
Great job on the holsters.alpmc wrote:JacksBack - Looks fantastic for a first attempt! Please post some more photo's after you dye and finish it.
wharvey - Love both, but the second holster is fantastic! I've tried a few experiments with hand stitching and was not happy. I'm going to try your idea of pre-drilling the holes!
Exactly! Cost less as well!wharvey wrote:Over all I'm pleased with these. Perhaps not the quality of one of the custom holsters but after using them to carry for a while, I have to say they will certainly do the job. AND no six month wait.
One comment on drilling the holes for stitching;
The drilling causes you to lose the leather seal around the stitching. It is not as effective sealing the stitch lock (if you break a thread it will run like wool sweater).
You might try pre-punching the stitch holes with an awl with the leather damp (wet), it will punch and stitch much more easily and then the stitch holes will seal around the thread whether lock stitch or saddle stitch, making it a lot stronger attachment.
