Re: Do you check reflections?
"Simply being constantly observant is 80% of the battle (and lets you appreciate all the wonders happening around you all the time)...and failed by probably 95% of the population. There is a reason that "crimes of opportunity" really boil down to a predator selecting the easiest victi...

Re: Finger printing and cost question
I spoke with DPS less than 30 minutes ago simply because I prefer talking with a real person and I am once again a newbie applicant but that is ok with me. I am just happy that I will soon be armed as my knife throwing skill is subpar  ! I appreciate all the warm welcome backs, thank you al...

Re: Finger printing and cost question
1st off thank you for your service, second I'm not sure if you have to or not. If I were you I'd go ahead and do it. Also I don't think I'd put retired police officer unless you plan on staying "retired" I know prob nothing bad would come of it but I wouldn't unless I'm retired. Thank you...

Re: Do you check reflections?
I couldn't find another topic on this, other than a passing word or two in response to other threads. So, I would like to ask the forum members a question. First, let me offer some background. I was having a conversation the other day with someone who is interested in getting their LTC. I answered ...

Finger printing and cost question
Hello everyone it has been over a year since I have been on the forum so howdy to all. Let me start by saying that I let my CHL expire a few years back but last summer I took the course again and still have one year left to apply so no worries there. Anyway I just started a new job that I really lik...

Re: Is "failure to conceal" still a thing once open carry starts?
Until the populace and law enforcement become more accustomed to open carry, I'll reserve my IWB for concealed carry. You hit the nail on the head, it will take some time for law enforcement and the public to get used to seeing people open carry. Regarding the topic of discussion, I am former LEO a...

Re: When to renew CHL and prcoedure question.......
It has been a few years so howdy everyone. A Constable friend of mine who is also a CHL instructor told me yesterday that I will have to start the whole process over as if I am a new applicant since my license expired in July. I hold a valid TX Peace Officers license (former Deputy Sheriff) as well...

Re: Mentioning You Are Carrying
Thank you for your replies and thanks for your welcomes. What you guys said actually is almost what I thought, but what I am picturing in my mind is a bit different I guess. So, allow me to hypothesize a case, so that I can understand how this would work: Say there was a very minor bumper-to-bumper...

Re: Neighborhood Security Watch
You have no "right given to you by the state" what you have is a privilege. Oh please enough of that nonsense. I am a state certified law enforcement officer not some idiot who passed the background check for a chl. I thought I could come back and get a few mature and informed opinions bu...

Re: Neighborhood Security Watch
If you don't like the rules, don't join the club. There's nothing stopping you from looking out for your neighbors unofficially. However, if you join the club and then break the rules, they can kick you out of the club. I can see you did not fully understand my question so here it is again...can th...

Neighborhood Security Watch
Hello everyone it has been a longtime since I have been here. I became a peace officer (deputy sheriff) but left that position so I could return to Houston and be closer to my family but my license is still active although I am not recommisioned as of yet. Ok here is my question and I hope it is in ...

Re: Off duty carry
I'm not saying people can't be trusted to carry, I'm saying they shouldn't be allowed in a courtroom. Period. They don't allow civilians to carry for that very reason, yet cops are allowed to - simply because they're cops. One thing you must or will hopefully realize someday is that LEO's are NEVER...
