Not necessarily true because I did both and never recieved a reply of any sort from either office.

Re: July '08 Applications

Try calling the main number,(512) 424-2000, and let the receptionist know you would like to speak with a supervisor over the CHL dept. I had left 3 messages with the rep handling my application over a three week period and never recieved a return call UNTIL I spoke with a supervisor and voiced my concern over the delay. I got a call from my rep no more than 30min's later and she gave me here direct line.

Good luck,
Gregg

PS,
I'm at the 113 day mark and I'm still in 'processing application'. :cryin

Re: July '08 Applications

I went to the HPD headquarters downtown for my new set and if I remember correctly I did mention to them that this set would be for my CHL license so clarity is of the utmost importance. They did a good job because they went through just fine.

PS. I have never called DPS or inquired any other way FYI...

That's great :cheers2: but as a June applicant, I just wanted to see who has recieved an 'app complete' status from July, it really irritate's me as the DPS recieved my app 6 week's before your's  ! The DPS has been waiting on my background check from Harris County, I live in Houston, for almost 4 full week's which I find very unacceptable. I have lived in Houston my whole life, have no felonies, no misdemeanor's and submitted a notarized criminal and civil disposition with my application! I will be contacting my state rep next monday if I dont get an 'application complete' status by this friday.

Re: July '08 Applications

The consensus is that recieveing a PIN with a mailed in app is about 50/50 but I guess it does not matter either way as long as we get one right?

Re: July '08 Applications

Only if you did your app online. I mailed in my app also and after a month went by without recieveing my PIN I called the DPS and was told that since I mailed in my app I must request my PIN via email, which I did, and recieved it via email two day's later and then in the mail one week later.

Bump ?

I believe the ONLY time they will email your PIN is if you send them an email requesting it (assuming they've begun processing your application). If you applied online, the PIN was included in the packet DPS mailed to you. If you picked up a packet at the CHL class and mailed it in after the class, your PIN will arrive by snail mail.

For what it's worth, packet receipt at DPS to receiving snail mail PIN was about a month last fall. That time appears to have approximately doubled since the first of the year.
