The guy responded "Don't worry, I have a CHL" and pulled it out to show him. Needless to say he was told to leave the store. I tried to avoid the parking lot for a while after that... NOT a good move.

Re: Any bone-head CHLers?

I believe the difference is in how it is being brought up. If someone is saying they are carrying to brag and act like a tough guy or big shot, they are definitely a BONEHEAD. If it is just coming up in a conversation while talking weapons for one reason or the other, but not in a bragging way, that is very different...IMHO. I ran into a guy at a Wally World while looking for ammo. We spoke briefly about lack of ammo and how it makes it hard to get practice. Somehow the short conversation came around to him mentioning he wanted to get his CHL and he ask if I had one. I said yes... The conversation then turned into ways of carrying...the gentleman was wanting to learn more about it all so I spoke of different carry methods. He then asked if I was carrying because he could not tell if I was. I said yes as I patted on my three clock and said it was hiding under my love handle. Nothing in the whole situation was loud or bragging.... Just one human trying to share info with another. I sent him to this sight, by the way.

Among it were a variety of things I didn't need. I advertised some things like brass and bullets in calibers I couldn't use, and got some calls. One guy who bought some things insisted upon showing me his CHL to "prove" he wasn't a radical gun nut or whatever. I didn't really care, I figured the criminals probably weren't reloading ammo. I had not mentioned anything about having applied for a CHL, I figured it wasn't anyone's business, and I was a bit surprised that he insisted that I look at his license. All in all, it seemed a bit weird to me. I guess he was just proud of it. :anamatedbanana
Maybe he was still on his "after 100+ days I got my plastic" high.
"rlol" ...I bet he had been speeding all over town trying to get pulled over so he could show a cop his CHL.

Re: Any bone-head CHLers?

I bet there are some bone heads out there that think it makes them a "tough guy". I have just been lucky enough not to meet them.

Re: Any bone-head CHLers?

Sometimes the topic of a CHL comes up between folks. Especially in gun stores. Most of the folks I have had this conversation with were not bragging. It was more of a exchange of carry ideas or even weapon choices. Some guys just talk loud...like my brother for instance. He is deaf in one ear and doesn't realize how loud he is talking sometimes.

The few people that know I carry aren't impressed enough with it to brag to anyone and they sure as heck know I don't want anyone knowing I am packing heat. Some folks are actually intimidated by guns and I don't want folks being scared to tell me how they feel. Maybe I need some folks who are impressed by the idea of carrying a gun. Then they could make me out a big shot to anyone that is trapped into listening. :biggrinjester:

Seriously though...I have been fortunate enough to not run into any folks who feel the need to show how tough they are by showing off the weapon they carry.
