Yep...same here. I never really talk about it to anyone. My immediate family knows I have a CHL but they never think about whether or not I am carrying and I never think to say I am. My friends and acquaintances don't have a clue I am armed. I am not sure why I would ever want to tell them I am. The topic just never comes up. I do have a few friends who also have a CHL but truthfully we never talk about it unless someone has bought a new carry piece or is looking at one and seeks advice. Honestly, I am just a bit concerned with folks taking my confession of packing a gun wrong. It is kind of like telling folks you know Karate. Everyone rolls their eyes and thinks "sure you do" as they assume you are just trying to appear tough. It is the same with guns. Some folks will act different towards you if you advertise you have a gun on you. Some think you are nuts, some think you are trying to be a tough guy, some may just realize you are taking responsibility for your personal protection. In any case, I would rather just keep it to myself. There is really no reason to tell folks you can defend yourself with a firearm any more than there is a reason to tell them you are carrying a knife or that you know Karate. I like not being told to leave my gun behind.

I ask that question every time a thread like this pops up. I never seem to get a good answer. I suspect there are some who talk quite a bit to their friends and relatives about the fact that they carry. I never have these issues because I don't feel the need to advertise the fact that I have a gun on me.
