Rick and his crew had just seen that the Governor has massacred almost all his own fighters for leaving the prison. They brought the Woodbury survivors back to likely save them from the Govenor and/or they could not survive on their own.

The other thing that get me though it the idea that x months after the apocalypse, you can still just hot wire some random car. Battery still good. Injectors not clogged. Tires still have air.

I thought the governor was dead for sure! Until they cut away and I realized they were about to have him miraculously escape.
