If your daughter is buying 1:18 die cast cars I will be selling a good sized collection soon. Priced way too cheap, but trimming down for a move this summer.

Re: Witnessed an ammo frenzy tonight!!
I am wanting to buy some of the dry fire rounds. I think they call them snap caps. It makes me crazy every time I hear that click on the empty chamber. I have heard it doesn't hurt the gun but it bugs me anyway.
I have also been told the .22 is harmed by dry firing. Not sure....
Like you TAM, I own and operate a small business. Times are lean for me. My people always get paid and the bills are always covered but being last in line behind EVERYONE, I just can't afford to drop the 40 or 45 dollars on ammo. I have plenty and have cut way back on range trips. My range trips are much shorter as well. In the "good old days" I have been known to fire over a thousand rounds of different calibers during a single outing.
Funny thing, I remember kidding around one time while shooting with a friend. I started hollering "TWENTY" , "FOURTY", "SIXTY"..... All the way up through "THREE HUNDRED". My buddy was looking at me like I had lost my mind.
Then I told him I was keeping track of how many pennies I was spending as I fired. Now I would have to start with .75. I find it much harder to do the multiples after fourty rounds or so.
IT is easier to sit at home and blast liberals on MSNBC. It is actually therapeutic...
Now he tells me my joke is no longer funny.

Re: Witnessed an ammo frenzy tonight!!
I am lucky you weren't there to make this argument. I would have been leaving with my three box allotment.CC Italian wrote:That is how I am. I don't need it right now but I always check when at the store and would buy some .40, 9mm or .22 if they ever had any. Why you ask? Mainly because I haven't slowed down my practicing at the range. Meaning once I do run through my ammo (going to take a while) I am going to have to buy more and I really don't want to buy it online. They are milking it for every cent they can while Academy hasn't gone up much and Wal-Mart is the same price from what I can see. I guess in a perfect world I would like to buy enough to last me a month at a time which comes out to about 600-1000 rounds in various calibers. The stuff I am going through now in 9mm cost me something like 10 bucks a box and it is what I shoot most because it is the most powerful semi auto handgun round my wife is comfortable with, meaning it gets used by both her and I and gets double duty.

Witnessed an ammo frenzy tonight!!
Lol... It wasn't really much of a frenzy as all the folks there were VERY polite and respectful of each other and the spot in line. I got caught a little off guard at first. I did not realize there was a line. My daughter and SIL had taken me to dinner and they wanted to stop at Walmart for some kind toy cars she has started collecting. While they were looking at cars I wondered to the sporting goods department to see if there was any ammo. I had no intentions of buying any, I was simply thinking I might be able to report ammo spotted and be a hero on the forum.
So a nice feller says to me as I walk up something about joining the line. He said it in a kidding friendly way so I didn't catch on. I said nah... Just looking to see what's on the ammo shelf. I did not realize he was waiting for the ammo to come out. Apparently this particular Walmart brings out the ammo at the same time every night and there are folks who already know about it and wait in line to get their ration of ammo. Three boxes a customer.
I just thought it was funny that I didn't catch on at first. After hearing all the stories of lines and rationing, I felt a little excitement in actually witnessing it all. My daughter sent me text saying they were leaving so I went on my way. LOL... When I told her what was going on she said I should have bought some. Now she knows I have more ammo than I could shoot in three apocalypses. I think it is normal human nature to want something we think is in short supply, even when we don't really need it. I will admit that for a second I was tempted to hop in line but decide I wanted to keep my fourty bucks more.
I won't say which Walmart so the line doesn't get any crazier.
