Re: i cant remember when i got arrested or find records!
Oops... Sounds like you already figured it out. I didn't see this post until just now. good luck to you on the CHLhalpain17 wrote:UPDATE: I got ahold of the county sheriffs office, and they were able to tell me the info on my arrest.
What actually happened:
Arrested for alleged theft and MIP
Released on Bail
Dismissed, no charges, paid fine for MIP
Whats actually on record:
County Clerk: Nothing
County Attorney: Nothing
Texas DPS: Nothing
County Sheriff: Arrested for MIP, No warrant, Released on bail, Paid fine.
So, I did complete my CHL application and list it with the information recieved from the sheriffs office.
Question: Do I need to fill out a CHL-78c form? I assume ys, and just include info on the MIP?
I do have a certified letter (fax copy) stating no criminal records in the county which I can send with my paperwork
NOTE: The theft would have been Class B, however the MIP is only Class C (if that matters)

Re: i cant remember when i got arrested or find records!
Kidding around, I forgot to answer the OP's question. I had an experience with my first CHL that might be a factor for you. I applied and listed the things I could remember. I really didn't mean to do it but I failed to list a few issues I had completely forgotten about. I listed nothing from my days before I was 18 but back then, every move you made was not put on the great computer network for all of eternity. Anyway....
The state sent me a letter requesting further information on two issues they found but I had forgotten about. They wanted letters from the courts in those jurisdictions stating the final disposition of the arrests. One was for a hot check, which I was never arrested for but showed on their search as an arrest. It was under 30 bucks!! I voluntarily had gone in, paid the fine and service charges and paid the check. The other was an arrest due to a misunderstanding about a hand gun. A guy called the cops and told them I threatened him with a gun. I hadn't done any such thing. First, it was a BB gun. Second, he knew I had it because we had been shooting at rocks with it the day before. He and I had words and he was trying to get me in trouble. I was arrested and released within a couple hours. All charges were dismissed.
They somehow found both these issues on their check. Both jurisdictions(court house in mcKinney), gave me a letter stating I had no misdemeanor or felony convictions in their records... Or something to that nature. I sent the letter to the state and was good to go.
I have no idea how they found something that my local courts don't even show! So, in my case, even though I failed to mention something and it was by accident, once they saw it, they simply ask me for proof there were no convictions. They did not penalize me for failure to disclose. Again... It was by accident on my part. I had just failed to think about such small issues. At least to me they were small. I was no catholic school boy in my youth.

Re: i cant remember when i got arrested or find records!
Are you guys really that innocent??? Wow! I can't even remember all the times I was arrested as a youth. It was part of being a teen. I can remember most of the jails I have been in. Pasadena Texas, Galveston Texas had quite the luxury suites in 1976... Then there was plano Texas... Which was like the Hilton compared to Galveston... Lets see... Lewisville Texas... Then there was Lew sterret in Dallas... Now that was a cool place to spend a few days... We have Collin county... Before renovations. I remember the food at the places... But I'll be darned if I can remember all the dates.halpain17 wrote:They took my watch with the date on it when they booked me.jmra wrote:I can't imagine not remembering such details if I had been arrested. I'm sure every detail of the experience would have been engraved in my memory.
also, I was more worried about Bubba and watching my back than the date!
Never had even a ticket since. Only arrest, and only because I chose to hang out with the wrong people (still my own fault, and a learning experience regardless).
The date isn't important to me though as it isn't anything I celebrate annually.
Getting arrested does not necessarily mean a person did anything wrong. Lol... The officers that hauled me to Lew sterret kept apologizing for having to arrest me. They said their supervisor on duty was a real hard case... Not the words they used. Gosh... I had to tell them it was ok to make them feel better.
You guys didn't get out much I take it.
Oh yeah... Almost forgot... I spent a night in a Mexico jail... I am not sure if I was abused or not.. I was too wasted to remember. they let me out the next morning and told me not to come back again until I was of age. Times were not so serious in the mid to late 70's. I can't believe all the stuff I got away with by charming a cop. Heck... I was arrested booked under a fake name and state of residence with no ID at 16 years old... Told them I was 18 and my name was Larry Estes. Visiting from Kentucky. I called a buddy and he bailed Larry Estes out of jail.
Yep... Those were the days.

Holy cow... I was only 18 months old and you were already boozing it up. So tell me, how do you handle the whole drinking while carrying thing?Oldgringo wrote:I was arrested in late September of 1962 for illegal possession of beer in a city park.
