Re: Harris County Applicants

Well, I guess this cold spell we've been having finally reached Beelzebub, because my wife just got a call from DPS apologizing profusely for the delays and letting her know they mailed it on the 12th. Mail hasn't run today, but it should be in there. Apparently, Rep. Taylor sent an action letter to DPS with words resembling "get this done now" according to the person she spoke to. I guess the first letter we sent in October must have gotten lost or addressed wrong, but this one definitely made it. So that's both my and my wife's application where Rep. Taylor directly intervened on our behalf, so I'm glad I voted for him. :txflag:

Her official day tally was 267. That has to be the record so far.

FAAPOD wrote:Well I spoke to somebody at my state rep's office today. He said that the office "would certainly be able to help push my license through", which sounded good. He also indicated (paraphrasing) they were aware that the whole Ike thing was a sham - that they knew full well that Harris Co. was way behind well before Ike. We'll see. Will be calling my state senators office tomorrow. I wish it were Dan Patrick, but it isn't.
Out of curiosity, who is your rep?

Re: Harris County Applicants

Glad to see that some of the Harris apps are going through. My wife's is still floating around somewhere with no help from elected officials or DPS yet. 261 days and counting...

that is ridiculous
I would contact a senator and update him on the situation.
I hope your wife receives her plastic soon.
Contacted senator and governor's offices back in October, with canned response. Will probably throw another letter out before the end of the year, and then might place a call to the local media.

so i doubt that would help but it's worth a shot right?
You never know when a boring day might strike and they're just looking for something to do.

Re: Harris County Applicants

I'm curious....

DPS handles CHL applications, but blames backlog on local checks in counties, also conducted by DPS. So DPS passes blame from its left hand to its right? Can't DPS just assign a couple more checkers? I mean, it IS their agency doing the checks right?

Re: Harris County Applicants

Wife is at 7 1/2 months. Almost feel like we're waiting on a child. As bad as Harris County is, I still haven't heard much on Galveston County BG checks (our residence).
