I guess they sort of covered the "Simone" rule with us. We got the speach about not calling DPS because apparently the unit that processes the CHL's is rather small. Every time someone calls it takes them away from processing applications. At least that's what they claim...
I do think registering on-line and paying beforehand might speed up the process. I got my PIN from Simone in about 3 - 4 days after requesting it via e-mail. I sent my packet on 04/08/2008. It was received on 04/09. Today, 04/24, I moved to "Processing Application". Now the real wait begins.

After reading some the posts here I think I deserve a public flogging.
I got my CHL when they first came started issuing them. It took about 60 days. By the time it expired, I was back into law enforcement, and decided I did not need it anymore. I never renewed it. What a dumb mistake. Now that I'm no longer in law enforcement I had to start all over. I registered/paid, took the class and sent my packet 2 weeks ago. Guess I'll join the waiting crowd and hope I get it before Christmas! I won't let this one expire.
