Now - I find it even more disturbing that she was an LEO because of the high expectations to which people hold law enforcement personnel. In my opinion an incident like this gets a disproportionate share of the media's attention, and leaves a bad taste in the public's mouth for LE as a whole. That sucks for us. Trust me - we get to deal with the repercussions of this fall out and how the general public relates to us.

Are you serious? What error in judgement did the on duty officers make in not killing the lady? You have no idea the bonds between officers especially ones that work together...I couldn't imagine having to draw a weapon at one of my partners because he or she armed themselves and may be a threat to me.
I think you can clearly hear the sense of urgency in the officers' voices when they are pleading with her to put the gun down. Everyone would be slow to kill their friend in self defense...regardless of what they do to pay the bills. While you are definitely entitled to feel they way that I quoted, your criticisms carry little weight as you've never been there and done their job.

Pretty high if you are in my city limits. We try and avoid making an arrest solely on the basis of public intoxication. It's easier to find someone a ride and does not compromise the subject's safety in doing so. And it's cheaper. I've cut people loose for worse.

After the elections, I'm writing to the winners to say the 51% and intoxication rules should apply to everyone equally. I'm also going to send them the video to show why.
Sounds great guys. I'll send them a pile of video and arrest records that I've stashed on CHL holders and petition to end the CHL program.
Or maybe a select few bad cases aren't indicative of the CHL population as a whole?
The attitudes represented by you two seem to be a stereotypical case of "look see what she did - all police are like that."
In regards to the errors in judgement that you disagree with, I'd say they did make a grievous error in judgement by not checking if the perp was disarmed. Cop or no cop, friend or no friend, I would think that was SOP. As I am sure you see, as a LEO, no one is in their right mind when they are intoxicated.
As for cops & 51%...well, I agree with Cobra and Harley. Why should LEO's be allowed to carry when they are on their own time, drinking excessively? Why should LEO's be above that law? Like I mentioned, no one is in their right mind when they are intoxicated. Why should a LEO get a free pass? Either enforce it for everyone, or repeal it for everyone. But taking the attitude of "You tell on me, I'll tell on you" is...well, suffice to say it isn't exactly the best attitude to take. I don't believe anyone is saying that all LEO's are like this. Heck, most normal citizens and CHLers are not like this...but they have to disarm.
I'm not bashing LEO's...just trying to understand your arguments...
