SENATE BILL 1424 PENDING NOW ON CHL QUAL.
For those of you who do not know me, I have been fighting a battle with the DPS for over a year and a half now on a denial of CHL. Check my previous posts for history on this case. We won at County Court level on Feb 3rd. The state has appealed my case to the third circuit court of appeals in Austin...

Re: Youth Correction Act Qualified?
Unfortunately, that is not an option. According to the JP, the state has a right of appeal just like any one else. I thought your idea was great but I think it would require more effort than just changing handgun law. It will be one of the topics that I will bring up in letters to legislators. thank...

Re: Youth Correction Act Qualified?
Looks like I spoke too soon. The state attorney appealed the decision of the local JP on the last day and the last hour of the appeal window. So, now off to the county courthouse for round two. I wonder just how much money is being spent by the DPS including time, food, lodging, admin help, travel, ...

Re: Youth Correction Act Qualified?
NOW WHAT? Today at 5PM the state window for appealing the JP decision closed, apparently without an appeal being filed. Which means I won, I guess. What do I do now? Do I write a letter to the DPS with the judges decision asking for my license? Do I send in a new application? Do I ask the JP to cont...

Re: Youth Correction Act Qualified?
Thanks for the recommendation, I am writing a letter to Rick Perry, it would not be a hard thing to send state reps a letter as well. In the mean time, If any of you out there are going thru something like this and would like insight please let me know. I know my experiences might be able to help so...

Re: Youth Correction Act Qualified?
just wanted you guys to know that I had my JP hearing today concerning my concealed carry permit. The JP ruled in my favor and told the state attorney that the justice system was seriously broken when the State would deny someone who the judge described as "a poster child for the success of the...

Re: Youth Correction Act Qualified?
Thanks for the info on the out of state CHL. I think I will stick with the State of Texas. I am still awaiting the outcome of the JP hearing that is scheduled for a week or so from now. If the state of Texas decides that I should not carry, then I am not going to do an end run around. For me, it's t...

Re: Youth Correction Act Qualified?
I noticed you are a senior member on this forum so I have a coupla questions for you. Are you telling me that I can request a chl from a state that I do not live in and that they will issue to me even thou I am not a resident? What happens when I go to purchase a gun and they look at my out of state...

Re: Youth Correction Act Qualified?
What good does it do me to get a Utah or Florida chl.? I live in Texas. Is there something I am missing? How would I do that if I am not a resident of one of those states and would Texas law enforcement recognize someone whose residence is Texas but carries a chl from another state? Also rereading m...

Re: Youth Correction Act Qualified?
Don't mind the questions at all. Yes, I am talking about a Texas Concealed carry permit. And yes, I do know the state attorney dealing with this case and have spoken to her on the phone several times. Not really concerned with the JP court. I know the JP's in my county and have spoken to law enforce...

Re: Youth Correction Act Qualified?
Don't know where they would have sent me. I received 5 years probation and was released after serving only two. That was why I was qualified for the vacation of sentence. The reason for the original question is that this has caused a denial by the state. I got a lawyer and am fighting this. It would...

Youth Correction Act Qualified?
I am new to this forum and have a question concerning YCA conviction. 34 years ago I received a felony conviction under the Youth Correction Act for not registering a class three weapon and not paying the transfer tax. The conviction was vacated and I received a certificate of vacation from the feds...
