The arrests at Jim's Car Wash on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard
Did you ever notice that in most large cities, MLK Drive is a street you don't want to be on.

I carry a S&W Model 36 in a Mika holster in my right front pocket. I wear cargo shorts 80% of the time (when I'm not a work) and the gun and holster are a great fit. With most jeans, the fit is tighter and the draw is not as fast as from the cargos. Also, many jeans pockets are not as deep as ot...

What I learned from this, is that it confirms my being in "condition yellow" whenever I enter a "stop and rob". Before I enter any convenience store I scan the parking lot for a possible getaway car. I check the entrance for a lookout. And I scan the check-out area for suspicious...

If I understand this situation correctly, I must take a beating if my life is not in danger. I too, am somewhat physically limited. If I am lying on the ground getting kicked and punched, I cannot use my CCW until I feel my life slipping away. Hopefully, I'll I enough strength to pull my weapon befo...

I have a similar success story. I shoot trap and skeet with a co-worker who only comes out before dove season. After talking with him about having a CHL, he decided to get one. He had never shot a handgun before. Now he's looking for his first handgun purchase.

I'm happy to see this thread return to the topic, and get off the PC debate. I always carry at home; inside and outside. For some reason I've never forgotton this incident. In Indianapolis at least 15 years ago, a man was cleaning the gutters on his house. A group of teenagers walked-up his drive wa...

Received my PIN today. The letter was dated 17 working days after application was received. I guess thats not too bad.

It took the USPS 6 days to get the letter from Austin to Brownsville. They must be using the Pony Express again.

I really am beginning to think that theres been quite an increase in apps. resulting in longer wait times. From what I've read, CHL instructors are reporting heavy increases in people signing up to take the class. I know of two instructors in Browsville who offer classes once a month, and they are ...

30 Days and waiting

DPS received my certified letter on 2/6/06. Still no PIN.

I'd like to know how many employees are assigned to CHL apps. and how many they process a day.

That should be public knowledge; right?

Non-Legal Sign

My credit union has a NO GUNS sign painted on a window next to the front door. Having just completed my CHL class I informed one of the tellers that the sign was not legal. She had no idea what I was talking about. A manager overheard our conversation and informed me that they plan to post the corre...
