There are a huge number of messenger bags available in all kinds of sizes and styles. But your initial inquiry ruled them out. If you don't want a messenger-type bag then you are likely to wind up with a regular laptop bag or briefcase. The "bags that are not purses for men" market segment is dominated by messenger bags.

I have about 5 messenger bags. I tend to carry one all the time, and the others are special-purpose. I just got one that looked right to me from Wilson's Leather. For CC of a gun in a messenger bag, it helps to have a body-side pocket that you can use to put a pocket holster or other holster in.
I have another from EastPak that I use to carry my laptop and other things when I ride my bike to work. Also have one that is much beefier made by Kingston, it works great for carrying a laptop and misc. accessories but it is just too bulky and heavy to use all the time.
Just shop around and find something that suits you. There are all kinds.
